I don't see "the number of brown people surrounding me" as a value signifying quality of life. Incomes are going up, GDP growth is keeping pace with inflation, if there's a crisis it's not showing. The comment about "being alive" means I've always lived in neighborhoods with foreigners. Only ever been attacked by white people, and I only know others who were also attacked by white people. And of course I didn't ad hominem you, I criticized your wording and challenged you to fix it. I didn't say laws care about feelings, but public opinion is what shapes laws. If most people don't feel crossing a border is a serious crime, it is unlikely laws can be passed to satisfy your need for a security blanket.

You have to treat refugees like refugees, otherwise when there's a war in your country, people will find it difficult to care about you. Yup TheTakeOva Besides the obvious, that migrants do the jobs you won't (cleaning, service industry, agriculture) which are all harder jobs than yours at which they work longer hours, there's all those statistics. Immigrants start and operate more businesses, which means longer hours and hard work. Then there's the ones I've had working for me. They make domestic kids seem lazy. Why do you think we keep hiring them? I didn't have to look very hard to find immigrants commit less crime. It makes sense, as serious crime means being deported, and immigrants tend to not want that. Even wikipedia has your back on that one. You literally didn't even try to look anything up. I'll link stuff if you want, but you'll find plenty if you just google it.

Yup TheTakeOva Your wife's family, huh? All of my neighbors are farmers, so if I want to see immigrants working farms I only have to walk outside my door. They do construction LABOR. Not construction. In order to be an electrician, for example, you have to be qualified, and there has to be a shortage in your trade otherwise companies aren't allowed to hire you. Most small businesses are started by immigrants. If you don't know that means more work or longer hours, I'm sorry for your ignorance. Try talking to a small business owner about working hours. As for your inability to look up statistics, I also can't help you with that. Maybe learn to use a computer and research stuff for yourself. There are lots of jobs in that; maybe try helping yourself instead of crying over nonexistent "invaders."

@normal human God's non-existence is something that hasn't been and can't be conclusively proved. You're welcome to try. As for crossing borders and stealing pens, funny you should mention that because both "crimes" weren't serious. Nobody got hurt, very little if any harm was done, and the net result will most likely be positive. The pen was morally worse, though, as it's pretty easy to tell when something doesn't belong to you, whereas the border is an imaginary line you wouldn't notice while running from a fire.

@jeffwalters8552 I was talking about his labeling of asylum seekers as "foreign threats." Obviously that's a misrepresentation of most of them, but it suits a political agenda. If you misrepresent one group after another, and nobody stops to point out the huge lie ("we're jailing criminals"), you can get all the groups you want in jail. Not saying it's going to happen, but a number of countries in the developed world could morph into police states overnight. All you need is fascists and a "crisis."
