They take their own last currency reserves to prop up their currency a few more months. I see that irresponsible behaviour a bit like a parent plundering his childrens bank accounts to provide his own private company with some cash. But his company have been runned with a loss since the start. And all hopes that it will turn around is just wishful thinking.

Its a quick way to get noobs to stop overestimating the power of the russian economy. But you are correct that the comparison is flawed. I would say that many other things matters too. Economic power in this world also depends on the number of Fortune 500 companies that a country have, its GDP per capita, its patents and innovation, its GDP per workhour, the amount of industrial robots per 100.000 workers, the structure of the economy where I consider manufacturing to be a superior activity compared to resource extraction, farming and banking. And then do other things matter too.. like the amount of corruption, health of the population, infrastructure etc. If all those measurements are taken into account, then I do not think that Russia even deserves a place among the worlds 20 largest economies. But Italy do.

@johnwalsh4857 Even if a new government comes into power in russia after the war, will they have a problem with convincing foreign investors to come back to their country after they have shown that they have no respect for private property of foreigners in russia as their theft of 500 airliners and their theft of Carlsberg beer has shown. Personally do I hope that corporations also get shamed for still doing buisness in Russia like Unilever, Tuc, Mondelez, Proctor & Gamble etc. Selling Pringles cans with St. George ribbon painted on them should be considered as anti-western treason. Its like if Pringles sold cans with swastikas and SS symbols in nazi Germany while they were fighting WW2. And Mondelez chocolate bars should be boycotted, as they have a taste of Ukrainian blood in them as this sh*thole company is paying taxes to Putins warmachine. All companies should have a choice - either they leave russia, or they will be bullied and ruined in USA and Europe. And if companies are forced to make that choice, then would the last remains of western involvement in the russian economy go away, and the country would fall apart.

Why hate a country that commits genocide and wars of aggression and have installed one opressive dictatorship around the world after another?
