@gaminifernandus9444 Army killed his best friend Charles Antony, who was second in command, so he attacked the army, so the army should have gone after him, but in Jaffna army fired on everyone they saw on the street the next day, at some point they even entered houses and fired, Premadasa advised JR to hand over the bodies to the families, But JR and Gamini had other plans and eveything was systematic, good premadasa knew what was coming, but he was helpless. Problems started in 1956 in Gal oya, then sinhala only and 58 riots, discriminations, attack on world tamil conference, burning of Jaffna library, attack in Manal Aru...JR passed emergency in the north in1979, so military problems started in 79 not 83. So the stupidity would be the Gal oya incident/Sinhala only act/ 58 riots.

Sameet Pattnaik Malaysia is not a country of Tamils, still Malaysian government gave the Tamils all the rights, so there is no need to fight for anything, Like Singapore Tamils they should do everything they can to help the country.

They can kill on their own and blame it on the LTTE, they killed kids in sooriya kantha and blamed that on the JVP, if they can do that they can do anything else, beside they had plot mohan group, eprlf Razeek group, telo varathan group to do those works for them, SL army more was more nasty than the LTTE. Sameet Pattnaik If you don't know the history of Tamils...to simply put in Ambedkar words 'Tamils/Naagas were the natives of Bharath, that includes the Lanka, before Ariya arrival', 2000 years ago it's the Arians invaded Thamilaham and Pandiyan Neduncheliyan chased them to death. It's the Arians infiltrated into Kerala, Andra, Karnataka, Maharastra, and other places which were Tamil territories, still they speak some Tamil words, like the Sinhalese, so it's not the Tamils who cause problems right? You need to improve not only your english but knowledge of history as well.

Means 22 languages, thank Ambedkar for creating the constitution, so far Tamil Nadu is ok, no need for independence. But problems already started in the north east, Naga land, problems in the Kashmir, Sikhs still dreaming about Khalistan, if politicians don't handle matters carefully these can escalate. If division occurs then north Indians don't need Pakistan to fear, even Bangladesh would bully them, Hindia. @harshana4388 If the LTTE attacked the army then the army supposed to go back after the LTTE, why kill innocent people? That was the Bravo 4 patrol unit, same day they got a warning about a possible attack, still went on. Not a single incident prior to black july, so you have to blame JR, Gamini and black july thugs.

@wolves2529 World Tamil Conference incident sparked the war, Srimavo pressured by some monks ordered Alfred Thurajappa to stop the ceremony, he used police to cause carnage, they killed 9 Tamils, angered many tamil youths, the youths went after police, Prabaharan shot Alfred over other reasons as well, this is how the violence escalated.

In the past petty poor criminals were pardoned and settled in areas in and around manal aru and other places by the SL gov. and given protection by the SL military, in areas previously inhabitted by the Tamils, after forcing them out through violence and other means. These people used as sacrifice goats for their propaganda. They know LTTE would attack, they put them out in the sentries with weapons and they open fire on the LTTE, while having family members nearby, when LTTE fire back using rockets, huts can catch fire, people in it can die like this. Even if home guards die in the fight, they become innocent civilians killed by the LTTE. Basicly SL gov. responsible for their deaths. Brother research on Sathrukondan. Black july paved the way for all these. The LTTE never harmed single civilian before black july.

LTTE was not perfect, other side was worse, people suffered by both of them. Stop blaming one side. Many incidents were blamed on the LTTE, they used other groups to do dirty works and then blamed them on the LTTE, just like the army blamed the JVP after killing school kids to do a favour for a school principle, a doctor hired the army to kill another doctor, just shame. if they can do that they can do anything else, don't believe anything blindly.

@sakalabujan8999 I don't see anything more terrifying than the riots of 1983 and sufferings of Tamils in mulli vaaikal, admist rains of Shells, at the end of the war. First shell fell another one came 20 seconds later, to kill people running to help the injured one, what systematic path of Buddhism.
