LTTE had less than 30 members at that time and SL army was getting info about their activities all the time from some Tamils, LTTE was not a big threat for the army at that time, army killed second in command of the LTTE two weeks earlier but JR Jeyawardena and Gamini attacked innocent Tamils who hardly knew about the LTTE.

@Sllion-t3i Well Tamil Nadu Tamils did not have any problems, they were fine being with India. Eela Tamils fought back bcs of you know what. Thanthai Selva gave so many opportunities for peaceful settlements, Sinhala leaders hardly listened. For your info Dr Ambedkar said entire sub continent was the home land of Tamils, Sudarsan seneviratne and Arjun Guneretne admitted the island belonged to Tamils in the past. Tamils only need north and east, you can have the rest.

@Sllion-t3i The whole island belonged to Tamils in the past, some invaders came from Kalinga and snatched it from the Tamils, still Tamil Eelam is a Hindu Tamil country.

@Sllion-t3i The real terroriststs were some Sinhala monks/thugs and some racist sinhala politicians, they messed with the wrong people, the Eela Tamils. They could not finish what they started, other countries had to finish it for them, just shame.

@Sllion-t3i Actually India was a headache for the LTTE, the training was not a help but a trap. India helped SL in many ways to finish the war secretly. If India had backed the LTTE like Soviet and China backed Vietnam, the LTTE would have finished the war in two months, in the 90s.

@Sllion-t3i Actually it's a Tamil New Year, whole south India used to practice for 1000s of yrs, even today in Tamil Nadu and Kerala it's practiced, usually on April 14 every year, they day Sun enter Mesha Rashi, the first Rashi of the cycle.

@Sllion-t3i It's not celebrated like before, the DMK gov did not promote it much in recent yrs, they even introduced Jan 1 as the Tamil New Year, Pongal and Diwali are given more importance in TN, but former Tamils the Malayalese in Kerala, Telugus and Kannadigas still Celebrate Tamil New Year in April, they go by different names now.

@prince_bharath1595 First of all violence was started by you guys in gal oya, during 1958 riots, during tamil conference. Still the LTTE did not target any civilians. LTTE ambushed the army so the army supposed to go after the LTTE, you don't burn innocent civilians to death, that's barbaric. Don't call yourself Buddhists, Buddha will spit on you people.
