USA and Soviet became monster powers, British lost so many men in the second world war and wealth as well, there was no point in holding on to countries, specially India with a huge population, they could have kept Ceylon/Sri Lanka under their control at lest, even that they gave up, If ceylon was under their control manybe the war would not have taken place, the country would have become like Singapore. Monkey politicians ruined it.

  2. Gandhi played a major role, even if the second world war did not take place the British would have left India and other countries at one point. Black people in America got their rights using Mahathma Ghandhi's tactics.

  3.  @gauravAFK  Gandhi prevented blood bath and got freedom without blood shed. If war was launched on the British earlier, British would have brought men from other countries and caused nightmare for the Indians.
