  1. I find no proof of this, although offering compensation for joining the military isn't new. Some places have a special military just for that like the French Foreign Legion, while the USA has citizenship offered for any immigrant who completed 6 years in the military.

  2. That would be us starting something. Ukraine isn't in NATO and we wouldn't be there protecting a NATO member. Some other country (Russia) is attacking some other country (Ukraine), it's not a member country (like Germany) being attacked. We would be putting our nose in someone else's business and we would have to pick a side. Putin is trying to get us involved.
