There is no ban on semi auto. I need to see a link saying so because the PDF I posted makes no claim. Sneaky? Is this the same sneaky that's trying to give us gay marriage and a Communist president? We can prove that gun laws decrease crime. factcheck(dot)org/2013/01/factchecking-gop-response-to-obama-gun-plan/ w w w(dot)politifact(dot)com/georgia/statements/2013/mar/13/donzella-james/gun-law-claim-goes-awry/ w w w(dot)justfacts(dot)com/guncontrol.asp#crime I'll need more than words from you.

Nope. ct(dot)gov/despp/lib/despp/slfu/firearms/assault_weapons.pdf

Sec. 53-202a. Assault weapons: Definition. (a) As used in theis section and sections 53-202b to 53-202k, inclusive, "assault weapon" means: (1) Any selective-fire firearm capable of fully automatic, semiautomatic or burst fire at the option of the user or any of the other following specified semiautomatic firearms: (List of specific manufactured firearms) It actually says that in the first sentence, and the mods you talk about are for semi-auto. You haven't read it.

Part two: "(2) A part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a firearm weapon, as defined in subdivision (1) of this subsection or any combinationan assault weapon, as defined in subdivision (1) of this subsection, may be those parts are in possession or under the control of the same person;" It's right there. It actually protects your rights to own a gun by specifying exactly what is not allowed. There is no broad interpretation allowed.

They aren't banning guns. They are banning certain modifications to guns. All guns available now will pass if they aren't full auto, remove pistol grips, change the color of the grips (seriously? This is a deal breaker?). A rifle is a different weapon than a hand gun. If you're so into guns, you'd know this. Just using one example from Virginia Tech doesn't negate all the others. Flash suppressor in an urban environment, yes. Anywhere else, no.

It worked for the Spartan military.

It's not the power of the gun, but the ability to go full auto, or the ability to fire repeatedly before a mag change. Many weapons with a magazine can easily use mags of different sizes. Some guns that can't take smaller mags either have to be redesigned or banned from manufacture. The semi-auto that aren't going to be modified are banned. The semi-autos that can be easily modified, or the parts to convert them to full auto are banned.

The PDF describes what constitutes an assault weapon. Switchable or modifiable to full auto, mag that holds more than 5 rounds, other stuff. How about this for an analogy. There are two of the same cars. One is stock, and the other has nitro, James Bond oil slick, speed radar jamming device, and a license plate obscuring cover.

These things don't improve or increase he velocity of a round, but it makes the weapon capable of concealment. The pistol grip does seem a little retarded. Same for the black plastic (would orange make anybody feel better? Don't think so). Flash reducers seems silly, but they prevent visual identification of a shooters location. The "gun ban" you describe is not a gun ban, only a modifications ban.
1
No, but there's only a few semi automatics they are proposing to ban, not all of them. Also, they want a ban on detachable magazine types and magazines that hold over 10 rounds. Not a ban on all of them. The grandfather clause is still in effect, and you can still buy these guns after the ban if the manufacturers modify the design slightly. Less powerful doesn't mean they didn't compensate by being able to spray more lead.

You can buy full auto's with a special license, but they already have purchase restrictions in place. The law is to prevent an easily modifiable to auto, after market full auto kits, suppressors, grips, etc that are used to convert a civilian stock to military grade. Alcohol does cause more deaths than guns, but we do have laws restricting alcohol consumption and use, few for guns. You can't drink and drive, but you can buy a 30+ mag plus a full auto kit for a AR15.

Ok.

justfacts(dot)com/gunconĀtrol.asp#crime I'll need some citations. And in relation to alcohol deaths, we do have restrictions on who can purchase alcohol, laws against certain usage (drunk driving), and alcohol is regulated (no moonshine). All the law is requesting is not a ban, but regulation of certain things, like full auto.
