  1. They can say what they want about Ian Bremmer, but for my money, Ian speaks truth to power and he does not hold back on his punches. What I was thinking about today---and forgive me for drifting back in the past---but there was a moment when I wished we were still using analog recording studios and analog tape and there was still '45s, 33s' and albums and singles and albums and American Bandstand was still the scene for the top hitmakers and all the rest that goes with how life was before Big Tech came along and gave us our I-phones and the like. Did you know that it used to be that people would practice and practice until it was perfect and then go in and record a song with all the musicians present and then the engineer pressed the record button and a sort of magic got captured on tape? I know what you are thinking: you cannot live in the past, but I can't help thinking that our global society has been, well, sort of hijacked by Big Tech, AI and algorithms. I see 9 out of 10 people coming home from work on the trams tucked into their little worlds chuckling or smirking away at their tiny screens and whom are oblivious to everyone and everything else around them. We have become societal tribes who are tuned into individual cocktail-ish worlds and the real winners are the big tech companies and software developers.
