  1. Ian, could this be thrown into the equation of NATO and the Ukraine's possible membership? Aren't we looking at a golden opportunity right now to have the Ukraine NOT in NATO? What do I mean by that? Sure; NATO would be the umbrella for the Ukraine should it join and take the fight to NATO countries against Russia, but by arming Ukraine to securely defend itself with all the kit it needs and air superiority, what I think may happen, Ian, is that the Ukrainians would fulfull retired American General Hodges' prediction of Ukraine taking back Ukraine in August of this year and pushing the Russians out of the annexed territories in the months to come. What this would do---and I am an armchair political scientist----is to show to the Russians that even a properly armed sovereign country is something the Russians should think twice about invading in the future. The Russian leaders would of course know the NATO countries were a no-go, but with sovereign Ukraine winning back their stolen land, it would send a double message to the Russians that maybe their aggression days were over and that their empire dreams would have to stay stashed in an empty drawer.
