  1.  @urbanistgod  not really. Walkable neighborhoods with various transit options are more sustainable and foster stronger communities. Note that most great cities of the world are denser including Ukrainian cities such as Kiev and Lviv.

  5. Realize it’s frustrating when rents and housing prices go up but a city getting more expensive is hardly proof that it’s going to shit. Seems like it’s proof people want to live there and more money is coming in.

  9.  @MrWelfarehater  northern cities have cradle to grave programs? Are you talking about the Nordic Countries in Scandinavia?

  10.  @MrWelfarehater  Food Stamps are a Federal Program and State program though and not from a city governments. Detroit has no shortage of housing but it does have a shortage of good jobs and good weather.

  12.  @MrWelfarehater  the key is building more affordable housing in places where the jobs are and people are moving. Cities like SF and LA added people and jobs but no new housing hence more homelessness. Same thing will happen or is happening in Tampa if they make the same mistake. Detroit and Cleveland are actually demolishing old abandoned homes in favor of more green space.
