Define significant, and please provide the proportions of Muslims against extremism that you know of, through time. Cos, that's a very bold assertion. "Basically what I'm stating is that I can point to any time people have criticised the lack of effort by moderates." Example of one such time?

  4. Hugh O'Toole I'm merely asking for you to be specific, and quantitative. That is not evasion, nor is it a tactic. You remain obtuse regarding a point in time when moderate Muslims were not active against extremism/radicalism. By using reductio ad absurdum ("last Wednesday at 3pm, lawl") you hope to avoid being more specific than "there was a time". You do say since the rise in prominence of Wahhabism. Again, quite vague. You mean the 1950's in Saudi Arabia? Quranism as a more liberal movement has been going on for longer than that, and have been a frequent target of terrorists. Does that count? Indeed the proportion of radicalism depends on the particular view and place. I agree with that. And, it is all too easy to conflate what Sharia Law means to different populations. Though, of course, there are ugly beliefs held by some Muslims. PS: the red herring was going on about proportions of Muslims having this and that belief when I asked you to back up your claim that it used to be the case that moderate Muslims did not speak up against radicalism.
