+Jawan Terrell Nobody is taking away your right to be bigoted.

trinitodbone41 Yeah, you can raise your child in a bigoted environment. But, you can't tell me you're protecting them by doing so, without making me laugh in your face.

Jawan Terrell "Who are YOU to determine what a parent feels is best for their child?" I don't determine what a parent feels is best for their child. I can determine (with demonstrable empirical evidence) several things that are good, and not good, for children in general. Bigotry does not protect children. "Like what the fuck is your problem???" Bigots? "A parent can make whatever household decisions they want." Yep. "If their idea of protecting them is having them avoid certain things, then THATS THEM!!" Yes, that is them. And, they're bigoted assholes whom I will openly mock. That's me.

Jawan Terrell "Who are you to determine a parent's morals?" A thinking human being. Do you not assess the morality of others? Or do you stop the instant they become parents? What if a parent eats their child: no comment from you on their morality? I'm sure you would call such parents monsters, and rightfully so. Being bigoted isn't criminal, nor as bad as cannibalism (obviously), but it's still immoral. I can and do comment on it. "Some think this is bad, some think others." Some are asshats, some are fully rounded human beings. "The parents can decide what they feel is best for THEIR KIDS." Yep. "Fuck the school. The government DOES NOT dictate what a person thinks is right or wrong." Sure. Up until a crime happens, of course. Bigotry is not a crime. "So laugh all you want" That's all I ask. "honestly, no one cares when liberals laugh at us. We laugh at them too." Seems like you care a whole lot.

trinitodbone41 "my premise is not to teach kids about sex that preschoolers, heterosexual sex or homosexual sex" Which was not in the book. "how do you come the conclusion that I have something against them?" You have a problem with the book, apparently, since you were talking about protecting your kids from it. If the brief mention of a gay relationship was not the problem, what was?

DirtyEdon "how does what you choose to do in your private time remortly comparable to your skin colour?" People are born the race they are. People are born with the sexual orientation they have. It's part of their identity. Stop me if I'm getting too technical. "why do we need to expose kids to this? to promote diversity?" And to reduce bigotry. And, the kid might be gay him/herself. Knowing that it's okay to be gay is a way to prevent self-loathing and repression and all sorts of terrible states of mind. "Should we involve incest and polygamy couples aswell?" In Bible study, maybe. Tons of it in there...

Jawan Terrell "It is letting parents WHO HOLD TRADITIONAL BELIEFS know about the concepts in them, since it may promote a lifestyle that is against their beliefs." And, it's hilariously futile. Though, a home like the one that would ban such a book is possibly damaging to the kid. To believe that all people must be straight or they are abnormal is not healthy. Especially if the kid turns out to be gay him/herself. Stuff like that leads to sexual repression, depression, and cognitive dissonance. That's bad. Whereas if a child grows up knowing that gay people exist and live long, happy, fulfilled lives, nobody's worse off. This is why I point and laugh at bigots. I only stop laughing when I see a child suffering the consequences of such bigotry. Then I get angry instead.
