  1. +333mayhem in the U.K. last year Labour was behind 16 or 20 points - which they closed in 2 months (campaign was that short). Polling was off (only one got it right). young people traditionally non-voters came out in droves. Same with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She was 16 points at least better than predicted in the last poll. That is why she was so surprised. The pollster work with the old data and scenarios (AOC - they try to predict who is coming out, we worked to change WHO is coming out to vote). So it is hard for them to make good estimates when the behavior of voters changes. Like young voters and usual non-voters coming out. Beto got a lot of hype, he talks at least a progressive game so he should excite young voters. The Willie Nelson concert was a success.

  2. I disagree: Beto wants to get the vote of people who voted for Ted Cruz The we-won-who-cares-how crowd will stay with Republicans, anyway. For them is the fact that "Their guy" dished out more important than issues. Beto runs on issues (Cruz is a talking point machine, sounds plausible on the surfaces - well he countered with facts). He hit him a few times and on issues tthat resonate with voters (money in policitcs. corrupt congress, I take no Pac money). Bam ! Many Texans want to see themselves as friendly, down to earth people - and Beto fits that description.
