AOC forgot about the administrative costs of means testing ! the rich will not join, but some solid middle class might if public college is good (or interesting). Here where I live sometimes seniors enroll. - and the concern trolls need not worry. the rich and their kids if they later have a good income will be made to pay for it in form of taxes (and that does NOT cause extra red tape, the IRS must handle them anyway). Nor is there any shaming possible. and it is much hurder to undermine a program it if is available for all citizens. That includes also vocational training.

@ykalon No I do not think that is possible, they will be stuck for 6 days (and Pelosi might have had that in mind - Sanders and Warren are Senators, and also Booker and Harris - but they do not poll well). Sanders could do video online "appearances" and have his surrogates go out.

@ThexDynastxQueen Senate rules. usually they do 4 days in the Senate and then can return to their home state or campaign - According to the rules they must be 6 days in D.C. (unless they get the waiver - by Mitch the Turtle because he is speaker. Meanwhile I wonder if impeachment - started late - is a tactic by Pelosi, Senate will have the hearings from January till spring 2020. Iowa causus beginning of February, Super Tuesday begining of March. - Sanders has at least Nina Turner and AOC and the other ladies of the squad to campaign for him. and a massive operation on the ground. They also prepare some bipartisan shit that would undermine funding even if a progressive president would win the presidency and the Dems get the Senate in 2020. If the corporate dems cannot blame the Republicans for stagnation (because they have both houses) they have to make sure in time that their hands are tied to their back by "rules" when it comes to budgets. Of course that might also be a tool to extort a yes vote for these bipartisan votes - in exchange for concession by Mitch for a shorter week during hearings.
