  1. 2
  2. Electability compared to Trump: Trump had agreed to a debate with Sanders - and then chickened out. And he never went after Sanders. They are both populists - Trump a fake one and to the right, Sanders to the left. The people WANT a populist (and one that they perceive as honest, not just making promises). There are solidly red or blue state, the question is WHO will win the swing states, incl. the Rust Belt states - and Sanders is doing better THERE. just an example: It does not matter if Warren would fare better than Sanders in New York or California in the GE. And both are not likely to win Texas anyway. But Florida and/or the Rust Belt states must be won, Sanders does better with lower income and blue collar voters and minorities and attracts people that usually do not vote (young people, low-income people, minorities). Warren does well with educated, higher income white folks that are slightly older - that attraction is useless in the GE - those people DO vote anyway and they prefer Democrats and tend to live in blue states. E. Warren cultivates the progressive image. She does not have good political instincts. Her publishing the DNA testing, or the gibberish regarding MfA recently, or the flip-flopping if she will take big donor money in the GE - she might - she will not - kind of by raising money for the DNC. Working class people appreciate a straight talker. The wordsy salad is not going to convince them that they can trust Warren. I also think she is not completely truthful, she rides the progressive wave because that is politically expedient, but at the same time also signals to donors and party establishment that she is willing to compromise - before the negotiations even started. And she has a history (since 2016) to err on the side of politcal expediency. She missed several occasions to step up. With Sanders voters have a chance to get a fierce and stubborn fighter (stubborn is a feature not a bug). Will Warren step on the toes of donors and party establishment - when she does not even do that in the primaries ? Trump would have it easier to go after Warren. That matters when it comes to Independents that are NOT white, well-educated, rather affluent older than 30.
