@js70371 dude, saying Odessa will be conquered by Russia is hilarious wishful thinking, but suggesting that NATO countries would go against the rules-based world order and start occupying parts of Ukraine, that's just beyond idi-tic. I think room temperature iq would be enough to recognize how st-pid that is. @Demantoid28 you might blow up the ZNPP for the same reason that you blew up the Kakhovka dam: scorched earth tactics. Russia has an additional reason to keep threatening the plant in various ways: To stoke fears of nuclear power in Europe, because if Europe doesn't build nuclear power and keeps on going for intermittent RE, they maintain and exacerbate a huge demand for natural gas, as well as high energy prices, which is good for Russia.

Ukraine has handled Bakhmut beautifully as a fixing operation and a Russian meat grinder while training lots of new brigades on new western equipment.

@VioletSilence has your propaganda subsided? That's interesting. Could it be perhaps because a significant share was done by Prigozhin's companies? Or because the Kremlin wants to start prepare people for eventual withdrawal. After all, they arrested Girkin and may be clamping down on Russian ultranationalists and hawks to reduce criticism when they eventually have to fold.

coldpotatoes2556 had NATO really helped Ukraine, Russia wouldn't have been able to get the land bridge to Crimea. Ukraine got no western heavy weaponry until LONG after the full-scale invasion. Of course, there's far more nazism and far more torture on the Russian side than in Ukraine.

If NATO intervened, it would start by sinking the Black Sea fleet, establish air superiority and then pound the Russian positions from the air until Russia runs back to its own territory. The west didn't even pour Javelins and NLAWs in until it was clear that Russia would invade. So Russia was not fearful of growing Ukrainian strength, but it may have been fearful of Ukrainian economic and democratic success. It needs brotherly nations to be poorer vassal states (like Belarus), not independent shining examples of what Russia could be if not run by a mafia/FSB oligarchy.

@Mortablunt it had a early 2022 population of 44 million at most, of which at least 5 million were already under occupation. You exaggerate its security forces and omit the fact that they didn't get any heavy western weaponry before the war, so as not to "provoke" the Russians. (The effect of withholding weaponry was the opposite, because what provokes a criminal like Putin is the weakness of his victims.) But other than that I agree; it's fairly large and powerful. Almost 40 million men is nothing to sneeze at.
