@roshan2164 the thing is in those poor countries, there is little oversee. Corrupted politicians will agree to any deal that makes them rich. China just needs to make sure the politicians are well compensated to get their countries into unfavorable projects. China does more than bridge skills and expertise. Pretty much the entire project even the heavy lifting labor is done by Chinese workers instead of using local labor.

The real benefits are the infrastructure built for the Olympics. They get to keep it. Attending the Olympics would help offset the cost. But it's not a total loss

@dr.j5642 I was generally speaking. Not specifically for the Beijing Olympics. Typically the stadiums are not the main value but general improvement of the area.

@dr.j5642 I don't think the uptick in tourism would ever offset the cost. You can only increase tourism by that much given there are only so many hotels, nightclubs, etc to accommodate everyone for those few weeks. I would say it benefits the city given the state and the whole country have to bear the build of the bills. The tourism revenue is a small bonus.

@duaneaikins4621 that's not infrastructure. That's directly for the event which is needed. Some cities reused the stadium for other sports. Some cities, they used the event to upgrade their transportation etc. There is always bad planning and miss.
