  1. I think NATO decided any leak of radiation floating over their territory would trigger a NATO response. So you may get your wish. I would assume tacky nukes & chem/bio fallout would trigger the same response. But they are being tight lipped about it. Just letting enough out to give the Kremlin second thoughts.

  3. The reason to switch over is to become NATO compatible. The SU-25 will do just fine until it is time to switch. Old Soviet equipment is very serviceable if not antiquated. If it isn't too quirky or hard to get armament for, it will do. They do need right away, air superiority. Then get some intercepts on the cruise missile attacks. Which is incredibly important.
