So desperate putin finds some conscripts in the far east of Russia. So he sends the pride of the mighty russian airforce, the IL-76 to pick up a load of Evil Ivans. The pilot gets about half way to Ukraine & announce, ‘Men, we have lost our number 4 engine. There is no reason to worry. It won’t affect our ability to fly. But it will delay our trip by about one hour.’. Later he announces, ‘Men we have lost engine number 3. There is still no need to worry, but this will delay our trip by 2 hours.;.Sure enough just a little while later he announces number 2 engine is out & they will now be delayed 4 hours. After putting down the microphone the pilot says to the co-pilot, ‘If that last engine goes out, we will be up here all day. . . . TADA!!!

@edwatts9890 I hear people compare the degradation of russia with what they think is a similar problem in the US, Uk, France, pick your poison. Many people have a problem with perspective like that. It is true the US may face challenges in the future & even break up. But the two aren't comparable.

To get to the most logical 'jumping off' point in russia bound for Alaska, there are literally no roads outside the cities. I think the Okrug has only one railroad & a few spurs that come off of it. It is a lot like Alaska in that you don't build roads on tundra.
