Joke only really works if you specify Beatty's battle cruisers pre Jutland.... The rest of the fleet was as good as RN gunnery usually is throughout history

I think you have missed the point by a mile. Your supposed to learn something. This is about content and historical knowlage being shared. Also, why did you write is with a z? (Genuine question, if English isn't your first language then I don't mean to offend).

That question has been asked in a dry dock. I'm sure the answer is that it's large flakes of paint :)

Do you have a source on this? I thought the Chinese navy was basically none existant at this time.

He's mentioned they are on the list... The list is however about 4 years long at last I heard. Don't worry mind. Patreons can vote to move subjects up to the top of the list :)

Not sure I can agree. The smartest minds of that generation brokered the treaties. I understand your point and i would be interested to know why they didn't use firepower as the yardstick and went with displacement instead. For they will have had a reason. No doubt many of them. As a side note. This is a good rule of thumb to consider whenever looking at any aspect of history. If I don't understand why the people at the time did something. I start by assuming they are smarter than me. Then work from there. No doubt your more knowlagable than me. But it's always worth assuming your not more knowlagable than the people of the time. It avoids applying hindsight in a dunning-kruger sort of way lol

In his defence. He isn't French.

Would many really fall to the main battery? The guns trained soooooo slowly. Even a minor amount of dodging and weaving should allow them to escape. Look at Rodney Vs Bismarck. Minor course corrections meant B could not hit a battleship. Against a tiny destroyer... Of course this is why yamato had a secondary battery which would do damage. But yes. It'd be a laughably one sided battle. Which is why battleships have escorts lol

Surely by remembering the ships. You remember the crews? It's not like reading an entire ship's crew manifest is going to add to a person's understanding of history.

He's covered sail to steam. And is working on the next installment. He's mentioned this in a few dry docks. It's not the exact same style video as it's not really needed for capital ships (for obvious reasons)

As did many other countries screen units. The idea being that the ships would engage with the enemy fleet and after dropping their torpedoes would return to their fleet to report on the enemy and of course to then screen their own force. Without plenty of guns at the back. They couldn't fight the enemy once their initial function was over. As a side note. I'm English. And from the North. So taking the p1ss out the French is like a local sport. But it's horribly historically inaccurate. I do like the jokes about their tankers putting gearboxs in backwards so they could go backwards in all 5 gears 🤣

I suppose "bad" is an absurd understatement ;)
