Show me how the universe can be started by nothing from nothing without a first cause. We live in a fallen world because we screwed it up thousands of years ago and told God we wanted it our way. The Hitler's of the world would suicide themselves and get away with their atrocities. But justice does exist. We strive for it, each and every one of us. I don't find any part of the bible to be convenient except where it says that salvation is a gift of God that no man can earn on his own works. I find that very convenient seeing as we are all sinners and all of us are deserving of God's wrath. But he gave his son on the cross so that if we just believe in him and that he was resurrected, God's going to take the hit for us so that we will be forgiven. I like convenience like that. Going against the sinful nature that we all possess isn't as convenient as you might think. Loving thy enemy, doing that which is right even when the opportunity for revenge presents itself, not knocking someone out that mocks us for our faith. That's very inconvenient.

So I don't see how you could have a different one than the one that revealed himself to us and showed us who he was by the prophetic teachings in the scriptures. God sees past present and future at a glance and revealed it to us so we would know it was him. Did your god do that?

  59. Orihime Inoue love by definition cannot be forced. So I don't know what the people you know are teaching their kids but that's not what Christians do. Christians teach their kids the basics. God is good. By definition a maximal being will only have great making properties which include all loving, and ultimately Just. And so of course there are rules, don't kill, don't steal, don't lust after people's things or the opposite sex. Love God and Love thy neighbor are out of appreciation for the love he shows you, the blessings of the life he gave you, and the free gift of salvation. You can't make someone love something. That is just backwards thinking. And I know altruistic atheists and I know hypocritical Christians. But I also know many good honest Christians and some real "piece of work" atheists. To stereotype any group because of the extreme cases is never a good idea. I don't go around calling every atheist Hitler. I'd appreciate the same consideration in not calling every Christian a Jim Jones. Unless that group had a fundamental consistent outlook, never count them out. I know some bad Muslims that are good people. I don't say that to pick on them, but their fundamental doctrine is worship Allah by following all the rules (it's a works system where you earn your way into heaven)and destroy anyone who doesn't believe in Allah. It's all throughout the Qur'an and Hadith. If the bible said something like that, I could understand you saying some of the things you said. Just for clarification; many people say all religions are fundamentally the same and superficially different but the fact is they are superficially similar and fundamentally different.

And I do read genesis from the Hebrew, it's called the king James version. Yeah, we still got the same books they got in the Torah. You should stop believing cynical critics of the bible with their own agendas and listen to honest historians. Even Bart Earman(Christian gone atheist) agrees that"yea, we got the same books". He doesn't put his faith in them but even he agrees there is no book (none) from antiquity more documented or verified by manuscript evidence, archeology, or science than the bible. Even the prophetic parts which distinguishes it from any other religious text. And those mesopotamian beliefs were made up in the last couple of centuries. No-one is left to interpret it for you and whatever interpretation you come up with will be tainted by modern beliefs.

And whenever the elite groups and Satanist cults get caught they always got someone in politics and the media to cover it up. So of course you might think that the church is the worst violator of trust because you never looked any further. Fyi, molesters were 95% of the time victims of molestation. Yet Satanists have rituals that require the rape and murder of children, from newborns to young adults. The repeated rape by the whole Coven, or cult, or secret society, or whatever they call themselves these days. So don't be so quick to point the finger till you get the facts straight. Yes, the Catholic church has a lot to answer for, but Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, where his word is the final authority; not followers of a church with certain ceremonies and rituals and their own ideas of authority, that's the big difference. Don't confuse the two.

And there's good reason to believe that the God of the bible honestly expressed his thoughts through the bible. Take the first verse "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". We now know the universe had a beginning, which included the beginning of the time/space continuum from nothing. So once there was no time, no space, and no matter and it lept into existence"ex niholo"(out of nothing)as it is expressed in the bible. Coincidence, I think not. But your free to make up your own interpretation.
