  5. But does he work for those people? I say no. Yes, the Party machine made him the candidate, but it was the voters of NYC who put him in the mayor's office and who alone can remove him. So if he wants to he can make an attempt to go over the heads of the Party machine. I'd love to see him try. Just to try would be extremely gallant. And if he met with any success it would be a fantastic moment. (Cp. Leonard Cohen, "Democracy Is Coming...To The USA.")

  7. He didn't use big words, he used quite ordinary words. I think your real beef is with the way he deployed them with simple eloquence. If he wrote that he's an intelligent man. It takes an intelligent man just to approve such a speech even if someone else wrote it. I suddenly have some respect for him.
