  4. It's fair to say she's proud, yeah. But I almost object on the grounds that pride can be healthy, and I'm a bit uneasy with using that word for her. Probably the most fitting word is arrogant. She is practically made of arrogance. A hundred and forty pounds of human arrogance.

  5. Terrible people are people who pretend reality is theirs and theirs alone to define, even others' reality. A terrible woman is one who defines a baby inside her as a baby when she wants to let it live, and a parasite like a tick when she wants to deny it life. One moment a baby; then when she changes her mind a tick; then when she changes her mind again, a baby; then a tick again, and so on ad nauseam. Because of a woman's right to make it easy on herself, the baby be damned.
