May it's more in your region like UP , MP , Bihar as religious things are always taken high there People could refrain from visiting temples too if state enable. But it doesn't mean they won't celebrate it. U don't know about westerners then They always visit church on the occasion of Christmas. But indians do have small temples at their own home too Hence it's not necessary for them
