@Myopinionmattersthemost yes, this case is about on par with the level of brutality of Emmett Till's murder in 1955. But Till's murder made national headlines, whereas this story was completely ignored by the national media. I guarantee you more than 60-70 percent of Americans have never even heard of Channon Christian or Chris Newsome. The media are despicable the way they ignored this story.

I had never heard of this case until about five years ago. Why didn't the national media make any mention of this case? I wonder.

How do you remember this? Unless you were living in Knoxville at that time, there is no way you could remember this, because the national media ignored and buried the story. I followed the news closely back then, and I don't remember one peep about this story. I never knew about this case until many years later.

@froggynzack I’m 45 now. Back then I was living in Boston and had this receptionist job that gave me quite a lot of down time. I remember being on the Internet all day reading the news... Believe me, I remember nothing about this story. Had I seen it, I’m positive I would’ve remembered it, just for how horrifying it was. The media are despicable the way they ignored this case, and we all know the reason why.
