The idea that she may have been profiled is baloney, though I'm sure CNN would love its viewers to think otherwise. As far as the officer bringing up the issue of the tinted windows, this is another perfectly common thing for law enforcement to do, for example you may be pulled over for a license plate light being out, but the officer can (and almost all of of them do) look for other secondary infractions or illegal activity during the course of the stop, such as: open containers of alcohol, not wearing a seat belt (which is now a requirement in every state except New Hampshire), possession of unlicensed firearms, etc.,. When police approach your car, they will ALWAYS look around inside your car for any visible evidence that can be used against you (this is called the "plain view exception" to the Fourth Amendment).

If so, this would explain why the officer initially had trouble matching the vehicle to its registered owner, and would debunk your entire theory that this was based on racial profiling. Second, you've already more or less admitted that you were wrong when you said that vehicle registrations contain the owner's picture. Now you're doing a 180 and suggesting that cops can instantly recognize the race or ethnicity of a person simply by their last name ? Really? Does that mean ALL people with the surname "Ayala" are African-American? According to Wikipedia the surname is of Basque origin; it is a Hispanic name (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayala_(surname)). And when a car is flying by at 80 mph, do you honestly think a police officer has all that extra time to sit there perusing through computer records while they decide whether to peel out and pull the car over? The car would be LONG GONE by then. Going by your logic, does this also mean that all people named "Murphy" are Irish? (well what about Eddie Murphy then? isn't he African-American?) Are all people with the last name "Malone" Irish? How about Karl Malone? (14-time All-Star and power forward for the Utah Jazz) or even the late Moses Malone, a Hall of Famer and former 76er (both of these men are...wait for it...African-American). Don't rattle off baseless or questionable facts and then finish it off by telling me to go "look it up". I'm actually kind of glad they do this as it would make my car easier to find if it were ever stolen; not to mention it helps find fugitives, runaways, etc.,

But those are the LEAST of a police officer's worries. They are far more concerned about the driver of the car being a violent felon or any person who is armed, and how such a person might react to being stopped by police.

As far as your statement about popular versus electoral votes, the popular vote may not matter at the national level so much but it DOES matter at the state level because the winner of each state's popular vote will automatically win the electoral votes apportioned to that state (assuming you don't have a faithless elector which are extremely rare)...in 2000 Bush would've lost the election if he had lost even a state like Wyoming which has only 3 electoral votes, having said that it is still extremely uncommon for someone to lose the popular vote but still win the election. Including Trump it has happened only five times in our history (2016, 2000, 1888, 1876 and 1824)

I don't know why folks like you make such an issue out of PACs, especially if you're fine with "small donors" -- because that's essentially what a PAC is. A PAC is simply a group of small donors who work for a company or corporation and pool their money, the only difference is that instead of writing the candidates checks in their own name, they write it on behalf of their company. It is NOT the company's money that goes to the candidates, it's the employees' . So when candidates like Warren and Sanders and AOC harp about not accepting PAC money, it's all a lot of meaningless political posturing and empty rhetoric.

Now if you REALLY want to be thorough and find out who works for that corporation, it is possible through a little detective work. But, if anything it is far easier to gage where a particular company may stand on a particular issue than for an individual (e.g. it’s easy to see where Halliburton may stand on the issue of fracking, but who knows where Joe Schmoe who works for Halliburton happens to feel about it, if you’re even aware that he’s an employee). Also — there really isn’t such thing as a “huge lump sum” from a PAC. PACs are subject to maximum donation amounts the same as individuals ($1000 for an individual, $5000 for a PAC).

However, it turns out that she accepted two $2700 individual donations from executives who worked for the company. That actually amounts to more money ($5400) than the maximum allowable donation amount ($5000, and yes it is $5000) that the PAC could've given her. Why do you have such a problem with money when it comes from a corporation rather than an individual who works for one?

If you take a look at all midair explosions involving aircraft, they were either due to missiles (Iran Air 655), lightning strikes (Pan Am 214) or a bomb (Pan Am 103). There is evidence that the Navy removed munitions from the seabed on the night of the crash in an attempt to orchestrate a cover up, however there is nothing about the wreckage itself that would've been incriminating to the U.S. military. The government's official explanation for the crash is that it was a fuel tank explosion, so if anything, reconstruction of the wreckage was essential to help them push their absurd narrative.

The missile that was being used (as part of a routine exercise by the Navy that evening) was inert and unarmed. Just one of those missiles can cost literally seven figures. So the military would not want to be having target practice costing them a million dollars a pop (makes sense when you think about it). The Navy was doing basically a high-tech clay shoot that night. They fire some type of munition and then fire an unarmed missile to test their systems' ability to accurately intercept it. They were doing this for God knows how long, right underneath the busy airspace of the northeastern US. I used to live in Massachusetts, heck I could've been a passenger on a flight flying through this missile are myself. This was also the reason why the Navy was the first on the scene and essentially commandeered the wreckage site. They had to scour the seabed to retrieve that missile, which would've dropped like a rock from the sky and into the ocean, after striking Flight 800. When the missile struck Flight 800, it punched a hole clean through the fuselage (possibly crushing some bodies as it did). Had it been a true armed missile, the aircraft would've exploded right then and there. Instead it took the fuel tank explosion to cause the 747 to snap in half midair.

How come nobody back then ever claimed it was "unconstitutional" or that the cop's radar guns were inaccurate? It's because one cop can only pull over one car at a time, whereas a speed camera can capture an infinite number of license plates. The only people who care about surveillance cameras in a bank, are bank robbers. The only people who care about speed cameras are people who want/intend to speed.

Before you got near the area where the speed cameras were, you'd see numerous signs warning that a "speed camera zone" was coming up and to slow down (which is why I know people are full of crap when they try to claim that they're "traps" that are designed to shake people down for money).

I've sat through some of these hearings in court and the judge always gives the benefit of the doubt to the accused. On top of that, very few people these days actually drive at exactly the speed limit (everyone is doing 5-10 mph over) so that's why I don't buy your claim. According to your logic, "SOME people are innocent, therefore we should do away with all laws all prisons and all law enforcement". 99% of people who walk into Walmart or Target have no intent on shoplifting from the store. The surveillance cameras are there for that other 1 percent who do. As the old saying goes: "the camera don't lie".

I don't deny what I did was wrong and I didn't try to dodge responsibility for it (unlike people who speed and get speeding tickets), my only beef was with the amount of the ticket ($200? are you kidding me? $50 would've been sufficient). And in my opinion, if the object of issuing tickets is to improve road safety, then speeding is more dangerous than an illegal turn. And if you'd like to hear my reasons or justifications I'd be happy to explain them.

As far as lowering the bar, most cameras already do what you say as far as giving people a margin of error (unlike the speed cameras in places like England where if you go 1 kph over the limit it's a ticket). But it's not a good idea to give too much margin for error because people will test the limits and the whole point is to enforce speed limits and keep roads and highways safe. And no, the reason people don't complain about cameras in stores is because 1) most people who go into stores don't intend to shoplift or commit any other type of crime, and 2) even if someone does commit a crime inside a store, they are less easily identifiable (people wear hats, hoods, sunglasses etc., to obscure their identity) compared with when they are driving because cars have information (license plates) which can be traced to the owner. Most people don't realize that cops run license plates all the time, that's how I once got ticketed for a shorted license plate light.

However in Europe, you don't get that buffer. The speed cameras will ticket you if you go even 1 kph over the limit (kph = kilometers per hour).
