@Shenzhou. Most of the people living in Taiwan are actually mainland Chinese, not Taiwanese, because the true Taiwanese are the aborigines who have been there for thousands of years, the majority of the people in Taiwan today have only been there less than a century.

@Shenzhou. The ancestors of Taiwan aborigines branches off from the ancestors of Chinese long before there was China and any Chinese. This differentiation is evident by their Y-DNA haplogroups.

@Shenzhou. More likely over 10,000 years ago when China nor Chinese existed, or perhaps the branch off and migration from northeast Asia started when the last ice age began.

@Shenzhou. People from Asia migrated to Americas over 20,000 years ago, so what's so impossible that some of them went onto an island just off the coast 10,000 years ago?

@Shenzhou. We are talking about current Taiwan's majority population which are Han Chinese people, who either came from the mainland less than 100 years ago or their descendants who were born on the island since then.
