I'm entrenched in farther NorCali and can't bring self to separate from the natural landscape. Loath flatlands and big part of my 'soul' resides in high Sierra wilderness, I don't suffer the near the worst of it which is urban. IDK if it can be turned around anytime soon with those of most like mind to me fleeing.

@barbaras676 Cool. I'm in farther N rural which happens to be a red area too, It's hard to beat really. Not everything is SF or LA.

@stephj9378 Absolutely! For me it starts with awareness and dialog, as you'd imagine I know many I politically clash with. Plus we ALL must avoid our own bubbles, echo chambers.

@stephj9378 Hills are flatlands to me, obviously you have no idea what I'm talking about, grew up a mile high w the peaks 2 miles ABOVE THAT. Most of the mountains you are talking about are hills to me. I don't control the state anymore than you determine the president, do what we can.

@barbaras676 I also sit on rich loam soil you can't reach the bottom of, some 30 ft deep. Grow everything from apples to avocadoes, have some 120 fruit n nut trees vines bushes on my modest 1/2 acre.

@barbaras676 The pendulum may swing again, we were the source of Reagan, Arnold was OK and took out a bureaucrat gov in a recall election. Any outsider seems to excel relatively speaking. Ironic as it all is--Silicon Valley, in the heart of Leftist stronghold, is also the most capitalistic place anywhere in terms of creating new businesses and even new industries, Apple to Tesla and hundreds of others keeping America a strong leader in technology. Cali has the economy (GDP) the size of Germany with half their population. We produce a big slice of total US agriculture output and big chunk of GLOBAL innovation.

@stephj9378 From a distance CA is represented by SF, Hell-A and other urban areas. It's a diverse state with vast rural areas, the East and farther North are not replaceable in a natural landscape sense. Nothing more "spiritual" to ME then a remote Giant Redwood grove (where few ever visit) or having my own canyon and lake in high Sierras to myself for days at 9000 ft., pristine waters, deep blue sky, stunning starscape at night....trout fishing....

@stephj9378 My fear is that the "best of us" (those with more Libertarian, Capitalistic tendencies) are fleeing the state further concentrating the Leftists. IDK what it takes to turn it around but think it's a matter of time.
