Unfortunately this advantage is lost. British losses against a miserable led Argentine air-forces were caused by the badly trained british crews. As Drach recommends "train your crew".

Commanding officers are the decisive factor. Lord Cochrane (best seaman in human history) would have found a trick to defeat Constitution with a scooner, as he did before with a spanish frigate.

@tommiatkins3443 Sometimes it is funny to speculate. The point is, Cochrane as the genius Sidney-Smith were never cowards, but they used their brains. If Cochrane would have been confronted with a kind of Constitution, he would have thought about it to find a tricky solution. Those kind of stories when Francis Drake slowed the Golden Hind down with seawater filled casks.

@jacktattis143 this is difficult to judge, the USS President was damaged by running aground and the HMS Endymion shot several broadsides in Presidents stern-section. The slightly stronger President was hindered by battle to escape and Pomone catched up. Both ships, President and Endymion, had more than 20 dead crewman and more than 50 wounded. And Decatur lost his life in a duel about this affair. So he gained his honour, don't you think so?

Not really, the US merchantmen and navy were crewed with ex-Brits. The same counts for the shipyards. And the US budget was charged heavily with protection money for the barbary-coast-warlords in the mediterranean. There was a pressure to find a military solution, the only solution in the US history at all.

Nelson was only able to defeat absolute amateurs, victims, against Pros he always got defeated. Trafalgar Square should not be topped by Nelson and it should be renamed Camperdown Square and Nelson replaced by Duncan. @ddandymann The US won WWII, right? So Germany has to pay reparations, which are financed by the taxpayers of Germany. Officially Germany paid for WWI till 2010 and will pay for WWII till 2030. Any questions remaining? I do not doubt there is a reason to pay reparations. But everyone with a guilt of his heritage should do it.

Type in Your searching mashine "us support in falklands war". You will find pages with articles and reports. Without the cowboys, Little-Britain would have been defeated at all & the Royal Navy sunk to the last ship. The cowboys had already a replacement in position, if an aircraft carrier would have been sunk. This is the point. No country can mess with the US, except Russia and China.
