In no way does that mean you get to claim food and water at the cost of others so that you can maintain your own life. It means nobody has the right to take your life (see the non-aggression principle).

Nobody has the right to force a farmer to grow food and give it to them for free. In an ideal world, yes there would be no wasted food or any other resource, but we don't live in an ideal world. We don't even live in a fair world. Attempts at sending aid to 3rd world countries often amounts to stealing from the poor (or the gullible or virtue signalling) masses in the 1st world, and giving to few corrupt and rich leaders in the 3rd world.
