Such an interesting episode! But I think the worries are overblown. The point is to have your money where the rule of law exists and the economy both immense and stable over decades. The only one is still the US, or the EU as somewhat distant second. So at most we will see divestment towards resources like gold.

@chrisluba7597 That is a small mans game. It's hard put trillions into crypto, which is the amounts needed.

@DeltaCain13 The Swizz also sanctioned Russia, so I think that option is also not looking as good as before. And Swizz have neither a large economy, or equally as stable overtime as the US.

@hendrikdependrik1891 You can't call it a petroruble, when it will only be used between Russia and a few countries. I think you are overstating Russia's position and ability quite a lot here. But hey, who am I to call out a pessimist for their bleak outlook. And btw, if you haven't noticed gold is being hoarded like crazy by all kinds of dictatorship across the world? Never have dictatorships financial reserves been held in so much gold as now. Russia and China are perfect examples.

@edR_ There is no risk for that. Stealing foreigners money makes an economic depression worse. So it's counterproductive, and thus no democratic nation will do that. A dictatorship might, as belief in basic economic theory is optional with them, just look at Erdogan.
