@nyotaz Do you know the country of origin for the little mermaid?? It seems like everything European must be scrubbed and race swapped..

@nyotaz Try again. Disney has taken these stories from European heritage and when it has been European based for decades then it is difficult for people to watch what they consider their culture and heritage get changed and diluted like this. Plus, it’s just as bad for the other racial groups who are not connected to these stories ethnically. We all would be better served if Disney would take actual African (and every other ethnic groups) lore and stories and adopted them to movies and cartoons. It would enrich us all while actually being diverse.

@nyotaz Google is easy to search but is meaningless in this context. You understand that people from Spain are European, right???? And why do you care so much about this little mermaid?

@nyotaz You’ve lost the plot. This kind of shit only gets worse as we hyper focus on race. My guess is that if she happened to be Asian you wouldn’t care either. Leave the last in the past and create new characters that are diverse. Wouldn’t that be more respectful to the “cause?” Instead of race swapping existing characters for diversity sake? It’s offense for those reasons.

@ethosterros9430 Sounds kinda dirty…

@t-dgonzalez2012 What does this have to do with Disney? And no, when a country that is 95+% white and their white movie industry makes movies they tend to make them about what’s available. Would you be bent out of sorts if china did an American story but had Chinese actors? Context is important. I miss the days of rationality and logic..

@Kim-by5uy I have one, thanks.

@nyotaz Isn’t that the point? You are taking traditionally white characters (not just Disney) and are race swapping. I understand perfectly why people would have a problem with that. Despite what you think, Disney’s little mermaid has been traditionally white since they put her on the screen. What’s interesting is that you think it’s about white people weaponizing something to be victimized but you cannot see the flip side of that argument because of your own biases and (most likely) racism. So keep trying to talk down to a whole race of folks who are afraid of losing their culture and history to the current wokeism mob.
