  1. I don't see how that's logical. Just extending unemployment would let money circulate, and putting someone in prison probably decreases the money circulating. There are two interrelated causes I can think of for racial profiling: (1) Blacks have a higher incidence of committing most crimes, and (2) a lot of people have an illogical tendency to think that if a group isn't like you in some way then they must all be like each other, wether they differ you by race, sex, politics, or just the way they dress. Put those two together and you get a strong impulse, conscious or not, to assume someone is probably guilty.

  2. I've seen "mass incarceration" used as a charge against America regardless of whether the people being imprisoned deserve it. Not only is this unfair, it removes the reason for people to change their individual behavior to avoid criminal activity.
