Thanks John, thanks Alec! Fascinating stuff! The photos are somewhat similar to the effect the new AI techniques for restoring old movies have... you take away the artifacts and limitations that gives that "old technique" effect, and what you are left with is something that looks so... present, so not dissimilar to what you get nowadays from smartphone cameras, that it ends up being a bit jarring even.
