@M.E.Smith7639 If you were an athlete before but now you can’t even walk and you put on weight it means that now that you don’t exercise you must eat LESS than before. You need to adapt your diet to your current life. There is correlation to the things you mentioned among weight gain and, for instance, genetics, medication, etc. However, correlation does NOT mean causation. The ONLY thing that makes us put on weight is called CALORIC INTAKE. If it’s more than your individual needs, you will gain weight. Law of thermodynamics, end of story. All the things you mention may slow down your metabolism and even mess up your hormones, which means that you may need fewer calories per day and it may be harder for you to lose weight than someone else but it is still a matter of CALORIES. Eat more than you should, you gain weight. Eat less, you lose weight. Humans CANNOT gain weight on breathing air and drinking water. It’s IMPOSSIBLE.

Jeez, STOP EATING JUNK FOOD. Everything you’ve described is because of eating junk food. Meaning refined and starchy carbs, sugars, ultra processed food, sodas. You need to change LIFESTYLE and FOREVER. It’s like an alcoholic, they need to COMPLETELY BAN alcohol from their lives for the rest of their lives. When you are obese basically it means that you are food addict and that you have DESTROYED your metabolic health, so yeah, just like alcoholics, so do you: you need to COMPLETELY BAN refined and starchy carbs, sugars, ultra processed food, sodas, junk/fast food from your life for the rest of your life.
