Lee Kuan, reminds me of the American founding father, Benjamin Franklin, who once remarked that he would rather be part of a rigged republic, where only the smartest and most informed govern then be ruled by a genuine democracy because, "in genuine democracies, the dim witted, poor, and uneducated control the vote".

  2.  @YamieX  When you explain it like that, its understandable, I concede. My people just get defensive whenever, other Chinese people refuse to offer hospitality to us. We've spent decent portion of our existence being discriminated because we are too much Vietnamese and not enough Chinese.

  3. Lee Kuan, may not have been a democrat, but at least he got stuff done and made improvements.

  4. I like many of his ideas, I'm just disappointed that he never bothered to take in the Chinese refugees from Vietnam, like my grandparents who asked but never got asylum from Singapore.

  5.  @vtntanvt4389  I hope the reason wasn't because my people were considered Vietnamese-half breeds, that was the case for Tawain and Hong Kong turning refugees down.

  6.  @bakkwa8705  your country supports over 5 million people today, and back during the refugee crisis Singapore was just 3 million. Your country could have taken in at least a couple hundred thousand of my people.
