  1. Part of the problem has been politicians and media who had helped proliferate the falsehood of a "great economic miracle." This misled investors, many of whom are merely using some kind of broker.

  2.  @skylinefever  On the plus side, both Russia and the CCP demonstrated the end-result of perfect socialism. (Tens of millions of deaths.) So, socialism turned out to be an utter failure, with the leadership switching over to capitalistic exploitation that doesn't respect laws or human rights.
