Western computing has long established that "security through obscurity" does not work. So the CCP forcing an inefficient switch to "incompatible" systems would not achieve the suggested security. Therefore, increased security is not the true motivator (i.e., it is a ruse). There are only two real "benefits" to domestic computing: 1- A business opportunity has been created for insiders to produce domestic computing. 2- Citizens will not have transferable computer skills that would be usable outside China (i.e., this is another barrier against citizens leaving the country).

Responding to YouReadMyName >> Think about it for a second, why would Western computing need "security through obscurity" if their computers didn't have backdoors? You are trying to make a fallacious argument. Backdoors are a industry practice that is in response to customer technical issues. For example, when a new customer is configuring systems, the backdoor allows the vendor privileged access to help them. However, once configured, it is expected that the backdoor is removed. Security through obscurity is the practice of hoping that people will not be able to figure out your security methods, which is generally agreed to be not possible in large scale systems. Upon reflection, there is a third reason why the CCP wants to force domostic computing: 3- Block Chinese citizens from access to encryption techniques, biometric logins, and related security methods that would protect their personal privacy.
