This is not self defense. She should be responsible for her action as others would be hold responsible. Actually, she's scaring me, what happened to her future partners and children if she got upset at them (because humans make mistakes and sometimes can act like jerks, like she did too etc), would she lash out similarly?

@livea3596 just because you're a drunk or a drug addict etc, it doesn't mean you should get maimed or murdered by other people. That's the whole thing. For you, his life didn't matter much compared to the girl on trial but he's still a human being with flaws and his life did matter. Let's talk about about other victim who's under influence, i.e. George Floyd, he was under the influence of drugs when the police was called and then they murdered him. I've heard so many people defending his killing because, if he's not under drug and acting out, and insisting his fake money was real, cops wouldn't have been called and him being 'high' (toxicology report claimed 2 drugs in his sytem) also contributed to those police sitting on his neck (for lack of better word). He's still a human being, deserving to live, so that's why the policemen who arrested him that day stood trial and found guilty.

She 'cried' because she doesn't want to go to jail. I think she should be punished, Idk about throwing the book on her or getting the chair, but she threw drain cleaner on her dad who's sleeping, then went partying. Sure, we all know he's probably a huge disappointment to her and they're living in a horrible condition....but it doesn't equal giving her the right to kill him over those, thou. After realizing that he's hurt, her first priority was to get his credit card pin lol. Dang. That's cold. Her behavior imo is alarming, if she doesn't feel guilty or badly about doing that to her father, what about one day when she has her own children and they piss her off...or her future partner(s)? Scary af.

@livea3596 of course everyone's action has consequences, but to diminish his life because he made a lot of mistakes as a person/parent, therefore she's free from punishment--I have to disagree. She may not be a monster in your eyes, but she may act similarly again in the future toward other people if she doesn't have any consequence for murder. Especially if like you say, she's learned this from living with her father/victim, so she may repeat this behavior toward other people whom she lost any patience with.
