Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, faced another blow as the Trust and Safety chief of the platform, responsible for moderating hateful content, resigned in disgust over Musk's recent transphobic actions. The incident unfolded when Musk extended an invitation to his transphobic associate, Matt Walsh, to host a highly offensive documentary titled "What is a Woman" on Twitter. This documentary is filled with transphobic attacks and misleading information, and it was part of a new agreement Twitter had just signed with the far-right "news" outlet, The Daily Wire.
Upon reviewing the video, Twitter's Trust and Safety Chief, Ella Erwin, and her team of content moderators decided to intervene and block Walsh from hosting the video on the platform. However, instead of supporting the decision made by Twitter's content moderation team, Elon Musk publicly criticized them, throwing them under the bus and stating that, "This was a mistake by many people at Twitter."
This disheartening defense of a hateful and transphobic video prompted Trust and Safety Chief Ella Irwin to promptly resign, highlighting Musk's alarming stance.
