@mrkitty777 : "SysWow64 folder is funny if you run Windows." ==It is a stupid name but for those who don't know, SysWOW64 is a folder in C:\Windows. It mostly contains DLL files of the 32 bit variety. System32 actually contains all the 64 bit DLLs if you are on a 64 bit Windows. WOW = Windows on Windows I'm sure MS had a good reason why they put their 64 b DLLs in System32. Probably, there are some important apps that would break if they changed that. When Win 95 came out, there was the System folder which contained 16 bit DLLs and System32 which contained 32 bit DLLs. <====This system actually made sense.

@sanelb1147 : "It's so unlogical. Made harder then it's supposed to be." ==I agree. It probably made sense long ago but it is now not easy to clean it up. It's probably all there for historical reasons. From what I see, some of the folder are empty.

@ExacoMvm Yes, those are the facts. I've heard it time and time again. People who want to transfer to Linux and use the same software, it doesn't work out. I would not recommend Linux to any company. It is too buggy. I have been a Kubuntu user for +1 y. Kwin crashes once in a while. The system notification helper crashes once a month. The compositor crashes once a month or I get graphical glitches and I have to reboot. A regular user of just Firefox or Chromium and some websurfing, should switch to Linux. I recommend the KDE interface. I would say that KDE is the OS. The GUI is the OS. Kubuntu is pretty good. I would say that Win 7 is more stable than Kubuntu 18.04 and 20.10. For gaming, I recommend installing the nVidia graphics driver. I play Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and they run fine. I run other things via Steam Play Proton. I have no idea how to see the FPS. For Battlefield 1, I boot into Win 7.

@Doriandotslash That's not really a problem. On Windows, I use to uninstall Firefox, install the new one all the time. I use Kubuntu. They push a Firefox update all the time but when it comes to LibreOffice, VirtualBox, Eclipse, nope, no updates. Well, VirtualBox is an exception. They finally updated it 1 month ago.

@ExacoMvm I'm just curious, were you able to install your Maya 2020 and V-ray Benchmark?

The problem is that sometimes the software store has old software. For example, Kubuntu had old VirtualBox, old Eclipse that didn't even work, old LibreOffice, old SearchMonkey. The exact moment that a new version is made, is not the exact moment that you get an update. I'm not sure why apt, snap, zypper, flatpack, dpkg exist. All these things are package managers?

@Doriandotslash So, why is there a need for so many package managers? Just recently, I installed Folding At Home. There were 3 DEB files to install and one of them failed since it says failed to meet dependency. Why doesn't it tell me what that dependency is? Their website says that Ubuntu is supported. I have Kubuntu 18.04. The other question I had, that I asked at linuxquestions, is that I can double click on a DEB file to install it. Now, how to uninstall it? Someone said, the Muon Package Manager. So open Muon and find fah and click on uninstall, and it gives an error msg. The user experience on Linux seems rocky. Ok, fine. Let's say the fault lies with the boys over at FAH,

How do you run a program besides opening a command window and typing ./name_of_your_executable
1
@Doriandotslash : Can you double click on the EXE like we do in Windows?

Is there a video about how to add a second hard drive? Where should I mount it to? Let's say I need more space to install programs? Under Windows, I can have programs installed to D:\Program Files. I can add another hard drive and install to E:\Program Files and so on.
1
@Doriandotslash : Can't it be done via the File Explorer like in Windows? I use Kubuntu and the file explorer is called Dolphin.
