  1. As a single parent, my black daughter had gotten into USC but was only offered $15,000 on a $70,000 a year tuition. She had an 32 ACT, didn’t take the SAT, 4.11 GPA, 4 different Honors Society (regular, French, Art, Law), Mock Trail, Track and Field, Beta Club VP, International Student VP. I can bet another black child that didn’t have her credentials got lots more financial aid. This was the year after the college scandal. My takeaway from that was the people with money, who can afford the tuition got the scholarship, money over merit.
