  1. The big problem with California was the pandemic, they allowed renters to not pay rent and they would not get evicted. They just stopped that in the spring in 2023. They did nothing for the property owners who lost all of that income. Now the property owners are charging very high rents to make up for their losses. I know I have a roommate that stopped paying rent and I am still having a hard getting him to move without it costing me an arm and a leg..
