@Davidcallard . The U.S. DOES NOT " PAY " anyone directly to be in the NATO alliance . You are believing the Trump LIE . The Member States are ENCOURAGED to spend a certain amount of their GDP on Defence , bit it is Not obligatory , because after all , they still have to RUN their Own Country . Europe would have beaten Germany , but Russia would Not have done so , so we would be living in a different world now . It CAN be said that America hastened the Victory though , for sure . The U.S. had been " sitting on the fence " prior to Japan striking Pearl . There was even some considerable sympathies there for Hifler's Policies .

@Davidcallard . There is a Whole bunch of B/S you just said there . U.S. doesn't " Pay " any members to be a NATO member . They are all independent members , " encouraged " to contribute 2% of GDP to their Own Militaries . However , they still need to run their Country based on Available resources . The U.S. didn't " Win " the war , they did greatly contribute and Shorten it , though . The Election cycles are currently interfering with Everyone's ability to Move Forward .
