This is what Happens , when Austria builds a Land Rover . Yes , Austria . PCH was the Austrian builders badge . The New " Mall Crawlers " have VERY little in common with these " Old Girls " . Early ones were almost ALL diesels . There have been Heaps of different Engines in them . i-4's , I-5's , I-6's , a V-6 , V-8's and even a V-12 . Portal Axles on Solid diffs were offered on MANY Models . The New ones are 4 wheel Independent . Truly a Soft roader SUV .

@MatthewC137 . The Mall Crawlers have Lighter Chassis' , 4 wheel independent suspension which limits articulation and Ground clearance over obstacles . The Portal Axles have been deleted which ALSO reduces clearance . An OLD G-Wagen had a locking Centre and Rear diff and didn't depend on sophisticated Electronics for Traction . New ones are NOT vehicles I would even consider if I was going Really Remote . A fried Resistor or Capacitor could EASILY leave you " Right up Shit Creek " , and in danger of DYING out there . Land Rover have gone down the SAME idiot path . I blame the EPA for a lot of the B/S rigs being built now .
