  1. Japan, which is a US sattellite/tributary state, grows because of its strategic significance - US can project power to Russian Far East coast and Chinese norhern coast from its territory. USA is keeping Japan happy through loans and privileged access to US controlled markets, the rest is due to solid Japanese industrial heritage and mostly good laws and their application. If Russia and China were controlled by USA, Japan would probably be poorer than Argentina...

  2.  @khalee95  There are organized, armed US troops and bases on Japanese soil and no Japanese troops or bases on US soil. 'Nuff said.
