A double actiion weapon, carried with one in the chamber and the hammer down (condition two), doesn't need any safety. It fires when you pull the trigger. A SA weapon, before firing, needs or to pull the slide (from condition three), or to rise the hammer (from condition two) or to switch out the safety (from condition one). So at least another action that, in a stressful situation, can simply be forgotten (and it happens MUCH more frequently than one tend to think).

Benelli B76. It has an unique push-type (the trigger pushes the transfer bar, like in a SA pistol) DA trigger.

The Double Eagle, like the Seecamp conversion, is made on a standard 1911 frame, not with this extra-high frame.

The Benelli B76 had a push-type double action trigger (the trigger pushes the transfer bar, like in a single action pistol, doesn't pull it like in almost all the double actions). One of the advantages was the very low bore axis (there's no need of any space over the hub of the trigger). That would have solved any problem of this 1911.

Browning's designs have nothing pure. His best designs (1911 included) had been revised multiple times according to the requests of the customer to reach their final form, and the best iterations of several (IE the BAR) had not been designed by Browning.

The Seecamp conversion, like the Colt Double Eagle, are conversions of a standard 1911 frame.

They could have made the bore axis a little higher.

Several SA-DA pistols in DA pull the hammer back and release it right before it's engaged by the sear while, in SA actuate the sear. That contrasts with the Seecamp 1911 conversion, where the DA trigger completely rised the hammer and then hit the SA trigger.

Those were DA only.

The Seecamp conversion, and even the ill-fated Double Eagle, are much nicer looking.
