It's comparable to the Italian Navy adopting the Mauser C96 in 1899 (first large contract for that gun). While it took to the Army another 11 years to adopt a semiauto. The Army use much more of those weapons, and uses much more avery one of them, so, they have to think more about logistic and economy. For the Navy, in respect to the cost of just one of their floating toys, the price of few thousands handguns is immaterial.

Infact "cartridges of the world" credit it of an energy barely above that of a .380 ACP. If that's the case, the gun is neat, but seriously overweight and overengineered.

Webbing in the trigger guard while holstering is not something unheard of.

You are holstering your pistol, and obviously you don't have your index on the trigger. Something of your equipment (laces, strings...) enters into the trigger guard, you are depressing the grip safety pushing the pistol in the holster and...

"cartridges of the world" credits the Webley .455 Auto of throwing a 224gr FMJ bullet at only 700 fps / 213ms, for mere 247 foot pounds / 335 Joules of energy. Barely above a .380 ACP.
