Knives of every dimensions are legal, if there is a reason to carry them. You can carry a machete in a forest, not at the stadium. You can carry a folding knife almost everywere. To carry firearms outside your house or workplace, you must have one of three kind of permission: 1) hunting licence. You can carry hunting rifles and ammos, the rifles have to be unloaded during transport, until you are in a place where hunting is permitted. 2) sporting licence. You can carry every kind of rifle and pistol and their ammo to and from a range. Weapons have to be unloaded during transport. 3) defence licence. You can carry loaded pistols. This kind of licence is harder to obtain than the former two (that are pretty easy, they only requires a bit of paperwork, a medical examination, a payment and the attendance of a single theoretical and practical lesson at a range). The kind of licence does not restrict the kind of weapons you can purchase. Weapons are not required to be disassembled during transport in any case.

You have to do some kind of job that puts you at risk, or to be in danger for other reasons, so security guards, jewelers, someone that had been threatened in the past, employees that normally carries big sums of money, even taxi drivers and gas station attendants. If you have it, you can carry one or more loaded pistols out of your house or workplace. If concealed or not, it doesn't matter. Mind that a rifle, in the EU, is a weapon that is longer than 60cm and has a barrel longer than 30cm. Below those measures, in Italy, the weapon is not prohibited. It's simply considered a pistol. So, a Fabarm Martial Pistola 11" (a 11" barrel, pump action, shotgun) is a pistol.

AKs, and "black rifles" in general, are legal, but not so diffused, so 5.45x39 ammos available are almost exclusively eastern armies surplus and Russian Barnaul. 15.5€ for 30 rounds, 80.5€ for 200 rounds. Mind that there is a limit of 1500 hunting ammunitions and 200 not hunting ammunitions a private can detain (not a limit to purchase, but to what you can detain at any given moment). However, shooting sports athletes can easily have an exemption (since they have a great consumption of ammos).

  6. Actually all those were first generation SMGs, while the M12 is a second generation smg (the first second gen. SMG had been the Armaguerra OG-43). The difference is that second gen. SMGs have much of the bolt weight placed in front of the bolt face (because it's "L" shaped or, like in this case, its telescopic and placed around the barrel), so shortening the weapon and making it more balanced during fire.

  7. The grip safety also lower a quite hefty block placed just behind the magazine that, if not lowered, prevents the bolt to come back if in forward position or to go all the way forward if in rear position, so no, an accidental discharge is not possible.

  8.  @garetz2011  The sear is in two parts for the disconnector to work. Also the sear of the MPL can slip for a hit, especially when in semiauto, since the trigger can only push, but doesn't pull it.

  9. It's still in service, but it's currently being replaced by the brand new Bertetta PMX.
