The Beretta manufactured ones are recognisable by the "old style" muzzle booster (inverted cone on cylinder, not inverted cone on dome). Now that both Italy (mg42/59) and Germany (MG3) are equipping the Ukrainians, it's a way to discern the origin of the MGs you see in action.

@donnerschwein A hint. MG42/59 had been licence-manufactured by Beretta. Those are recognisable by the "old style" muzzle booster.

The Beretta MG42/59 reduces the fire-rate by reducing the pressure in the muzzle booster (infact its muzzle booster has small holes perforating its "dome"), however is a delicate balance since, by reducing the speed of the bolt without enhancing its weight, you reduce it's energy, that's required to pull the belt also.

Italy sent the Beretta-made MG42/59, Germany the MG3. You can discern them because the German ones have the muzzle booster like that of this video (inverted cone over a dome) , while the Italian ones have the "inverted cone over a cylinder" one. Those are the Beretta ones https://youtu.be/YDt4kGc1_q4 https://youtu.be/nDCSQEjutOA
